Nina & Matt’s Beautiful, Industrial West Mill Wedding, Derbyshire
The Morning Preparations
I headed to meet with Nina and the girls at The Stay Company in Derby, as that’s where they were getting ready for the wedding. It was a lovely apartment with gorgeous light coming in. Once Ant had dropped me off, he headed straight to The West Mill Wedding Venue to meet Matt and the groomsmen.
The West Mill Wedding Venue
The West Mill is the most beautiful place for a wedding. It was transformed from an industrial cotton spinning mill, into an exclusive use wedding venue. It’s also a Grade 1 Listed Building and is so unique inside and out. There’s incredible brickwork and it is steeped in history. We absolutely loved shooting here, the staff are outstanding and the grounds are to die for! Just look at those daffodil beds!
The Ceremony at The West Mill
This has to be the most emotional ceremony we’ve both experienced. Matt was in pieces as the music started, playing ‘This is why I love you’ by MAJOR and I even felt myself go a bit as Nina started walking down the aisle. Such a memorable experience for us and I am so glad to be one of the people to document it. You’ll be able to see in the pictures below.
Partying at The West Mill
The wedding reception at West Mill was BOOMING! With our mate Nkosi from Dj Coast2Coast doing his thing and getting everyone on the dance floor! We even had a little boogie ourselves. Nkosi really knows how to read a room with his music and plays absolute bangers! We always know it’s going to be an ace party when they’ve booked him for the wedding reception.
Home Time
We had the most lovely time from beginning to end and Matt & Nina’s wedding was one of the largest galleries we have ever delivered and it’s because the venue was amazing, there was so much going on and it was dressed absolutely incredible! We also had the best time working alongside Lou from Rather Lovely Films who knows the venue like the back of her hand and was like a little tour guide for us!

‘We can’t say enough about The Struths that would truly do this gorgeous couple justice! From start to finish, they were on hand to support us through the booking process, our numerous COVID postponements (which hopefully no one will ever have to go through again), our big day itself and all the after process from seeing a few preview photos to finally getting the whole gallery. We always felt they were just a message away and they always responded super quickly, which is always important when you’re going through any stressy planning stages. On the big day itself, it’s just like having two more of your mates with you throughout the day. They made us feel so comfortable, they’re super discreet but equally know exactly what they want/need in terms of shots, and will always offer advice on when might be a nice time to pull you away for a short time for couple shots. We never wanted to spend a huge amount of time during the day getting certain shots, but because they know exactly what they’re doing, and when to time it, we never felt like we were away from our guests for long. And what can we say about the final gallery….. it’s incredible! We absolutely adore all our photos – they are so natural, candid, are just so genuinely US…. and they capture the best moments! Don’t think twice about booking The Struths… it’s an absolute must! We will always be so thankful for having them as part of our big day! Nina & Matt’
