Celebrating Diversity: Our Commitment to Inclusivity in Our Wedding Photography

For Neurodiverse Couples

Welcome to The Struths, We are Kimmy and Ant, a husband and wife team dedicated to capturing the essence of your special day. Beyond our passion for photography, we take pride in fostering an inclusive environment that caters to the diverse needs of all couples.

Understanding Neurodiversity

We believe that love knows no boundaries and comes in all kinds of forms. We are committed to celebrating neurodiversity and ensuring that our photography services are accessible and comfortable for everyone. We understand that each couple is unique, and we embrace those differences to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

Tailoring Our Approach

Planning a wedding can be an exciting yet sometimes overwhelming experience. We recognise that neurodivergent couples may have specific preferences and requirements when it comes to communication and meetings. That’s why we offer a flexible approach to our pre-wedding meetings, allowing you to choose the format that suits you best:

Face-to-Face Meetings:

For those who prefer a more traditional approach, we are more than happy to meet with you in person. Whether it’s at your home, a cozy coffee shop, or a location of your choice, we are here to make you feel comfortable and at ease.

Virtual Meetings via Zoom:

In this digital age, we understand that some couples may feel more comfortable meeting virtually. Our Zoom meetings offer a convenient way to connect, discuss your vision, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Over-the-Phone Consultations:

If you prefer the simplicity and ease of a phone call, we are just a ring away. Our over-the-phone consultations ensure that distance is not a barrier to effective communication.

Text and Email Communication:

Recognising the importance of written communication, we are open to making arrangements through text or email. This option provides a written record of our conversations, allowing you to review details at your own pace.

Our Commitment To Understanding

Communication is key to a successful collaboration, and we are committed to understanding your unique needs. We encourage open dialogue about your expectations, preferences, and any accommodations that would make your experience with us enjoyable.

Lived Experience

Kimmy has worked with children and young adults with learning difficulties and ASD/ADHD for many years. We both have close family members with Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia and disabilities. After obtaining knowledge on neurodiversity over the last few years, through a number of courses, we have each made applications to the ASD pathway for ourselves and Kimmy an additional ADHD one.

Creating A Comfortable Environment

On your wedding day, we want you to feel at ease and focused on the celebration. If there are specific sensitivities or preferences you’d like us to be aware of, please let us know. We are here to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for you and your guests. Knowing about guests or couples who may have Sensory Processing Disorders or Sensory issues is really helpful to know in advance.

Capturing Authentic Moments

Our photography style is rooted in capturing authentic moments, genuine emotions, and the unique essence of your day. By embracing neurodiversity, we aim to enhance our ability to tell your story in a way that truly reflects who you are as a couple.

For Disabled Couples

We understand that each couple is wonderfully unique, and that’s why we’re committed to offering a personalised approach to our services. For couples with disabilities, we strive to create an environment that is not only accommodating but also celebrates the beauty of your day.

Pre-Wedding Meetings Tailored To You

We recognise that meeting preferences vary, especially for couples with disabilities. That’s why we offer flexibility in our pre-wedding meetings. Whether you prefer face-to-face consultations, virtual meetings via Zoom, over-the-phone discussions, or communication via text/email, we’re here to make the planning process as seamless as possible for you.

Accessible Spaces And Understanding

Our commitment to inclusivity extends to our understanding of diverse needs. If you require specific accommodations or have preferences regarding shooting locations, we’re more than happy to work with you. From scouting accessible venues to ensuring that our photo sessions are comfortable for everyone, we’re dedicated to capturing your love story in a way that reflects your unique journey.

Let’s Create Memories Together

Your wedding day is a celebration of love, and we want to ensure that every moment is not only captured beautifully but is also an enjoyable experience for you. If you have any specific requirements or if there’s anything we can do to make your photography experience more comfortable, please let us know. We look forward to creating timeless memories that perfectly encapsulate the essence of your wedding day.

Inclusive Celebrations: Ensuring Comfort for All Guests

We understand that every wedding is a unique celebration, and our commitment to inclusivity extends to ensuring the comfort of all guests, regardless of neurodiversity. While our primary focus is on capturing your special moments, we also want to provide a welcoming environment for every person attending your wedding.

Creating a Relaxing Atmosphere

We recognise that some of your guests may be neurodivergent, and we want to ensure that they feel comfortable and welcome throughout the celebration. Here are some considerations to enhance their experience:

Quiet Spaces

Designate quiet areas where guests can retreat to if they need a break from the festivities (and being photographed). These spaces provide a calming environment for those who may feel overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of wedding days.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

For guests who may be sensitive to loud noises, offering noise-cancelling headphones or inviting them to bring their own. This allows individuals to enjoy the celebration without discomfort.

Communication Preferences

Encourage open communication by letting your guests know they are free to express their needs. Whether it’s through designated points of contact or a note in the wedding program, make it clear that their comfort is a priority.

Sensory Friendly Details

Consider incorporating sensory-friendly elements into your celebration. From subtle lighting to comfortable seating options, these small touches can make a significant difference for neurodivergent guests.

Advance Notice

If you are aware of specific needs or preferences of neurodivergent guests, consider sharing this information with them in advance. This way, they can plan accordingly and feel more at ease knowing that their needs have been taken into consideration.

Your Celebration, Your Way

Your wedding day is a reflection of you both, and we want every guest to feel valued and included as I’m sure you do too. If there are specific accommodations or considerations you’d like to discuss further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we can create a celebration that is not only visually stunning but also emotionally resonant for every guest in attendance.

ARFID-Friendly Celebrations: A Culinary Experience for Everyone

We believe that every aspect of your wedding should be a joyous experience for all guests, including those with unique dietary preferences or restrictions. We understand the importance of catering to individuals with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and ensuring that they enjoy the meal that you’re supplying.

Understanding ARFID

ARFID is a complex eating disorder that involves a limited range of food preferences, textures, or colours. Crafting an ARFID-Friendly Culinary Experience would make those guests feel catered for and not causing too much fuss.

Customised Menu Options

Work with your caterer to design a menu that offers a variety of options, accommodating different tastes and textures. Providing a selection of familiar and comfortable foods can make a significant difference for guests with ARFID.

Allergen Information

Clearly communicate allergen information for each dish on your wedding menu. This ensures that guests with ARFID can make informed choices about what to eat, minimising any potential discomfort. It also accommodates for guests with allergies to select a dish that suits their dietary needs.

Flexible Serving Arrangements

Consider offering a buffet-style or family-style meal, allowing guests to choose the items that suit their preferences. This approach provides flexibility and ensures that everyone can enjoy a meal tailored to their comfort. If you’re having a sit-down meal then discussing with guests who have ARFID prior to the wedding and asking for exceptions to be made for them by the venue staff would avoid any uncomfortable conversations on the day.

Celebrating Your Way

Your wedding is a celebration of your relationship, and we want every aspect of it to be a reflection of you and your partner.

By embracing inclusivity and being neurodiverse-friendly and disability-friendly, we hope to contribute to the joy and comfort of all your guests, creating beautiful memories that last a lifetime.
